Cooking eggs in the air fryer is so easy! I have made Instant Pot Hard Boiled Eggs, but I think the air fryer may be my favorite way to make them now! If you love eggs you will definitely enjoy my Air Fryer Egg Bite Cups.
These eggs will work great for breakfast or to use in other recipes! Pair the eggs with Air Fryer Sausage, Air Fryer Bacon, or Air Fryer Hash Browns.
Is Air Frying Faster Than Cooking on the Stove?
Probably not, depending on the consistency that you like your eggs. I used to boil eggs for about 10-12 minutes. I spend just a few more minutes on them in the air fryer.
But I get to WALK AWAY.....do other things....without babysitting boiling water on the stove. This is great for meal prep when I'm preparing several different meals all at once.
These also peel much easier. No guessing games, and no burnt and overcooked eggs.
How to Make Air Fryer Hard Boiled Eggs
- Place the eggs in the air fryer basket. You can make however many you want, that will fit comfortably in the basket.
- Air Fry.
- Remove the eggs and place them in an ice bath.
- Peel the eggs.
Air Fryer Temperature
Cook the eggs at 260 degrees. A lower temperature is used so that you don't overcook the eggs at a higher temperature.
Cook Time/How Long to Cook
16 minutes is my sweet spot. I have a 1700w air fryer. 16 minutes will yield hard-boiled eggs with a thick yolk.
Ice Bath
Place the eggs in a bowl with water and ice for 5 minutes or until the eggs have completely cooled.
Placing the eggs in an ice bath will cool them and stop them from cooking. It will also make it a lot easier to peel the shells.
If you have very cold faucet water, you can run the eggs under water, too. You can read more about Mistakes to Avoid When Making Hard Boiled Eggs here.
How to Store the Eggs
The eggs can be stored in the fridge, covered, for up to one week.
Recipe Tips
- Play around with the cook time using your brand of air fryer and how you like your eggs. You may need to cook longer or shorter depending on your air fryer. If it's your first time, maybe you test out 1 egg to be sure you nail the cook time.
- I like to cook 5-6 eggs at a time. You can cook as many as you want. I have not tested stacking eggs in the air fryer so I recommend that you don't stack, unless you wish to test it out.
- Some eggs may develop small bumps or protrusions on the shells after air frying. It's normal and the eggs will still be fine.
- Soft boiled eggs typically take 9 minutes, medium eggs 11-12 minutes.

Do the eggs slide out of the shells like they do when cooked in the Instant Pot?
staysnatched says
They are really easy to peel.

I had no idea I could do this! I feel like such a newbie. Thank you so much for this. I can set this in the morning and don't have to babysit the darn pot. ?

You're welcome! And yes that's what I hate about stove top!

Genius recipe! I have been an "old school boil my eggs gal" and recently steaming my eggs, forever, but this AWESOME recipe converted me! New to the air fryer (I got the Cosori) and tried this yesterday, my boiled egg this morning was PERFECT - I don't think I'll boil in water ever again. Thank you Stay Snatched for this incredible life hack!
staysnatched says
This is a great hack. Glad it worked out!

Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed them.

Can you boil again an air fryer oven if so would it be the same amount of time as if they were in a air fryer.
staysnatched says
Hi, I've never tried this an air fryer oven. I would test it using the cook time noted and adjust if necessary.

Hi, I’m an air fryer newbie and love it!! My sisters and I have tried the boiled egg thing at least four times in different size and wattage air fryers. We have not been able to get a successful combination of time and temperature yet. We use farm fresh eggs, could that be our problem? Thanks.
staysnatched says
It could be. I've never used farm fresh eggs so I have no guidance for you. You will have to keep testing it.

Yessssss! I made these today to have deviled eggs for Easter tomorrow, and they came out just perfect! 1) no babysitting a pot of boiling water 2) they were SO easy to peel; usually when I peel eggs, half the egg comes off with the shell. Not on these! This will be my go-to way to get hard-cooked eggs from now on! Thank you!
staysnatched says
Wonderful! So glad it worked for you.

This is such a game changer! I enjoy hard boiled eggs but never make them because of the whole process you have to go through. My air fryer run a little hot, so I did mine at 250° for 14 minutes with 8 eggs. The yolks came out slightly softer than yours, but they were still firm. This is going to make meal prepping snacks for the week so much easier. Thank you, Brandi!
staysnatched says
You're welcome! Happy to change the game!
Shari says
Such an easy way to make hard boiled eggs that you don't have to babysit. I was so surprised how easy they peeled considering they were fresh eggs. Thanks for another great recipe!

I love my air fryer, which our household uses just about everyday! I recently had switched to making my "hardboiled" eggs in an InstaPot, which has a consistently perfect cook. However, when I ran across the idea of cooking hardboiled eggs in my air fryer I had to try it. I'm so glad I did! My first try was cooking six eggs (straight from the fridge), placed on a rack in my Innsky Air Fryer (1700 watts), and cooked at 270 for 15-mins (no pre-heat). I was quite happy with the end result; only one egg had developed a thin 1/2-in crack (egg did not leak out), the whites were not rubbery (most peeled perfectly), and the yolk cook/texture was like a 9-min egg (almost fully cooked, but with a small dark yellow medium cook spot). I like this level of cook for half cut eggs for something like a Cobb salad. However, I used this batch of cooked eggs for egg salad, so it made mixing the egg yokes with mayo slightly challenging. I think the next time I cook air fryer "hardboiled" eggs for egg salad/deviled eggs, I will cook it for an additional minute (a total of 16-mins). Why I like this air fryer method; I don't have to take out my InstaPot (my air fyer lives on my kitchen counter) and there's no special clean up (the InstaPot requires washing out the pot, trivet, and top).

Thank you for sharing!
