Making air fried green beans in the air fryer is about as easy as it gets! There's more to an air fryer than just making Air Fryer Cheeseburgers and Air Fryer French Fries! You can roast veggies, too!
Key Ingredients
- Green Beans – The star of the dish! Fresh green beans are crisp, naturally sweet, and hold up well to air frying, developing a slight char while staying tender-crisp.
- Olive Oil – Helps the seasoning stick while promoting even browning and a lightly crispy texture. It also adds a hint of richness without overpowering the fresh flavor of the green beans.
- Garlic Powder – Delivers bold, savory flavor without the risk of burning like fresh garlic would in the high-heat air fryer environment. It infuses the beans with that classic garlicky goodness in every bite.
- Salt and Pepper – Simple but essential.
I'm no stranger to green beans. I make my Instant Pot Southern Green Beans for every occasion. These are a little easier with the air fryer. I'm definitely going to add them to our rotation.

How to Make Air Fryer Green Beans
Detailed measurements and full instructions can be found in the recipe card at the bottom of this post.
- Coat fresh green beans in olive oil and then season with garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- Lay out the green beans in the air fryer basket.
- Air fry.
If you have a large pile of green beans, check out this post on How to Quickly Trim a Pile of Green Beans.
Air Fryer Temperature
I use 370 degrees.
Cook Time/How Long to Cook
7-9 minutes was the perfect time for me to give them a soft texture with a crunch. If you like crispy green beans, cook them longer and monitor them.
How to Cook Frozen Green Beans
For frozen green beans, use the same temperature but double the cooking time. Check on the green beans and adjust the cooking time as necessary.
Tips for Air Frying Green Beans
This recipe is foolproof, especially when you consider these things:
- Use Fresh Green Beans – Trim the ends for the best texture.
- Pat Them Dry – Any extra moisture can lead to steaming instead of crisping. Dry green beans thoroughly before seasoning.
- Coat Evenly with Oil – A light, even coating of olive oil helps the seasonings stick and promotes crispiness without making them greasy.
- Don't Overcrowd the Basket – Arrange green beans in a single layer for the best airflow and even cooking. Cook in batches if needed.
- Shake the Basket Halfway Through – This ensures even cooking and prevents uneven browning.
- Add a Flavor Boost – Finish with a squeeze of lemon juice, a sprinkle of red pepper flakes, or a drizzle of balsamic glaze for extra depth.
- Serve Immediately – Air fryer green beans taste best fresh and hot! They tend to soften as they cool, so enjoy them right away for the perfect texture.
