How Do I Cook Burgers in the Air Fryer?
I like to use the pre-made burger patties from the butcher section of my local grocery store. If you prefer to create and mold your own burgers, use ground chuck 80/20 fat.
Season the burgers with Liquid Smoke, Worcestershire sauce and Webber's Burger Seasoning. Place the burgers in the air fryer on 360 degrees in accordance with the timing noted below.
Here is a Step By Step Guide on How to Make Burgers.
How Long Do You Cook a Hamburger in the Air Fryer?
Cook the burgers for 12 minutes total. Cook for 8 minutes, flip the burgers and cook an additional 3-4 minutes.
How Long Do You Cook Frozen Hamburger Patty in the Air Fryer?
Frozen burgers need about 15 minutes to cook.
How Do You Cook Steak in the Air Fryer?
Steak needs 7 minutes cook time for medium doneness using the Power Air Fryer. Check out my Marinated Air Fryer Steak recipe!
Is the Air Fryer Really Healthy?
The air fryer cuts the fat. Air frying cuts up to 80% of the fat of traditional deep frying. Most deep fried foods require 2-3 cups of oil. You will only need a tablespoon with most air fryer recipes. Also, most deep-fried oils use canola or vegetable oil.
I typically use olive oil with the air fryer, which is much healthier.
Can you put aluminum foil in the Air Fryer?
Yes, you can use aluminum foil in the air fryer.
Pair your juicy cheeseburger with Homestyle Air Fryer French Fries.

Juicy Air Fryer Cheeseburgers
Quick and Easy Juicy Air Fryer Cheeseburgers is a beef recipe that the whole family will love. This post will show you how to cook burgers in an air fryer and for how long. The recipe also includes instructions for frozen burgers. You can even make air fryer turkey burgers!
Ingredients
- 1 pound 80/20 ground chuck beef (or 4 pre-made patties)
- 1 teaspoon liquid smoke
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 ½ tablespoons Weber Burger Seasoning
- salt and pepper to taste
- 4 slices of cheese (any)
- 4 buns
Instructions
- Season the ground beef with the liquid smoke, Worcestershire, burger seasoning, salt, and pepper to taste. Form 4 burger patties
- Place the burgers in the air fryer. I cooked mine two at a time.
- Cook the burgers for 8 minutes on 360 degrees.
- Open the air fryer and flip the burgers. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes.
- Use a meat thermometer to test doneness. 125 degrees rare, 135 degrees medium rare, 145 degrees for medium, 155 degrees for medium-well, and 160 degrees for well done.
- Top each burger with a slice of cheese. Cook for an additional two minutes or until the cheese has melted.
- Serve on buns.
Notes
I cooked the burgers two at a time due to the size of my air fryer basket.
Total cook time will vary based on how done you like your burgers. You can also use a meat thermometer to gauge: 125 degrees (rare), 135 degrees (medium rare), 145 degrees for medium, 155 degrees for medium well, and 160 degrees for well done.
I like to serve my burgers on toasted buns. After cooking the burgers, you can let them toast in the air fryer for a couple of minutes.
If you are using turkey burgers, the cook time should remain the same.
You will notice grease in the bottom of the air fryer pan. This did not cause any smoke during the cook process. You should clean the pan right away.
Here is the order in which I load up my burgers:
Bottom Bun (toasted)
Mayo
Lettuce: Fold up the lettuce and form a circular shape so that it covers the bun
Slice of Tomato
Burger
Top Bun (toasted) with ketchup
Secure with a toothpick

I think the size of chicken breasts has changed dramatically since Julia Child's day, which could account for some of her shorter cook time.

Well I thought I had bought ground turkey but instead bought sausage!! How could I have done that!! And thank you for the brown rice link, and yup that was the one!! Anyway I did make this tonight but instead of turkey I used ground beef! It was all I had and I wanted to make this so bad. But guess what - it was fantastic!! I know it would have been healthier with the turkey but this was, as my husband said -- give it two yums!!! Thanks again
Hannah Flack says
I made this last night for company and everyone loved it! It was great - simple and flavourful. I deal with a lot of food sensitivities - sugar being one of them, so I used coconut sugar. Thank you!
