Can you cook pizza in the air fryer? Uh yeah! I know a lot of people like to use it to reheat store-bought, but pizza in the air fryer can’t get much easier!
This recipe uses whole wheat pita bread and marinara so that you can whip up a simple meal on weeknights. You may also enjoy my Air Fryer Pizza Rolls recipe.
How to Make Air Fryer Pizza
- Load the pita bread with your favorite sauce. You can use store-bought pizza sauce or store-bought marinara sauce. You can also make your own sauce. Be sure to check out my Homemade Marinara Sauce!
- Add the pepperoni and the shredded cheese.
- Place the pizza in the air fryer.
Air Fryer Temperature
I recommend 400 degrees.
Cook Time
Cook the pizza for 8 minutes. Use your judgment, as every air fryer brand will cook at different speeds. Cook the pizza until it reaches your desired level of crisp.
Substitutes and Variations for the Crust
You can also use tortillas or pre-made pizza dough in this recipe. I love the pizza dough at Trader Joe’s. It makes a great option.
Additional Toppings Ideas
Cooked ground beef
Cooked ground Italian Sausage
Cooked and Crumbled Bacon
Chopped Veggies
Recipe Tips
- I prefer to purchase my cheese in the deli section by the block. I grate my own cheese. It melts so much better than pre-shredded cheese that you buy from a store that comes in a bag.
- I like for my pizza to have crispy edges. The Air Fryer helps take care of that. The amount of time you leave the pizza in the Air Fryer determines how crispy your pizza crust will be.
- Longer time in the Air Fryer will result in a crust that is more brown and crisp.
- Feel free to add your desired toppings. Crushed red pepper is one of my favorites.

Easy Air Fryer Pepperoni Pizza
Ingredients
- 1 whole wheat pita
- 2 tbsp pizza sauce or marinara If you don’t like thick sauce, you can use 1 tbsp
- 1/8th cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 1/8th cup cheddar cheese, shredded If you prefer only mozzarella cheese, omit and use 1/4th cup mozzarella
- 8 slices pepperoni
- olive oil spray
- 1 tbsp chopped parsley, optional to garnish the pizza when it has cooled
Instructions
Standard Instructions
- Drizzle the sauce on top of the pita bread, then load the pepperoni and shredded cheese on top.
- Spray the top of the pizza with olive oil spray.
- Place in the Air Fryer for 8 minutes on 400 degrees. Check in on the pizza at the 6-7 minute mark, to ensure it does not overcook to your liking.
- Remove the pizza from the Air Fryer. I used a spatula. Cool before serving.
Crispy Crust Instructions
- For a more crisp crust, spray one side of the pita bread with the olive oil. Place in the Air Fryer for 4 minutes on 400 degrees. This will allow the pita to fully crisp on one side.
- Remove the pita bread from the Air Fryer. Turn the pita over to the side that is less crisp. This should be the side that was face-down in the Air Fryer.
- Drizzle the sauce throughout, then load the pepperoni and shredded cheese on top.
- Place the pizza back in the Air Fryer for 3-4 minutes until the cheese has melted. Use your judgment. You may need to allow the pizza to cook for an additional couple of minutes to reach your desired texture.
- Remove the pizza from the Air Fryer. I used a spatula. Cool before serving.

Can I use my convection oven instead? I don't have an air fryer.
