Why Air Fry It
Air frying is healthier than pan frying and will typically yield less fat. It’s also an easy and quick cooking method. It will cost you half of the time using the air fryer in comparison to Oven Baked Turkey Bacon. You may also like our Air Fryer Bacon and Twisted Bacon recipes.
What Type of Bacon to Use
Turkey bacon is often used as a lower-fat alternative to standard pork bacon. Turkey bacon has a similar taste and texture to pork bacon, but it is leaner and contains fewer calories and saturated fat. It doesn’t usually crisp up the same in comparison to pork bacon. This cooking method does the trick!
Most turkey bacon is cured processed meat. I recommend uncured and nitrate-free turkey bacon. Uncured is a type of bacon (pork or turkey) that has not been treated with synthetic nitrates, which are typically used to preserve the color and flavor of cured meats.
Uncured turkey is often made using natural ingredients such as celery powder or sea salt to cure the meat and prevent spoilage. Check out Healthy Tips for Eating Turkey Bacon here.
How to Cook Turkey Bacon in an Air Fryer
Detailed measurements and full instructions can be found in the recipe card at the bottom of this post.
- Place the turkey bacon in the air fryer basket.
- Air fry. If needed, flip the turkey bacon halfway through the cooking process.
- Cool before serving.
Trivet
If you are looking for bacon that lies flat, you will need to anchor it while it’s in the air fryer to prevent it from curling up. I use this trivet from Amazon and place it over the turkey bacon while it air fries.
Temperature
I recommend 370 degrees.
Cook Time/How Long to Bake
Cook time will vary based on how crisp you like your bacon. I cook for around 10 minutes.
How to Store Leftovers
Leftovers can be stored tightly covered and sealed in the fridge for 3-5 days.
