What Type of Chicken to Use
I use a pound of chicken breasts, which is typically 2 large size breasts. I like to use this recipe for salads and pasta and I like thick strips of chicken so I leave the breasts intact. If you want to enjoy these as chicken cutlets, slice your chicken breasts in half (horizontally) to create 4 cutlets.
You can also use bone-in chicken breasts or thighs. Bone-in chicken usually has an additional cook time of around 5 minutes.
How to Make Air Fryer Parmesan Crusted Chicken
Detailed measurements and full instructions can be found in the recipe card at the bottom of this post.
- Combine breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, Italian Seasoning, salt, and pepper to taste in a bowl large enough to dredge the chicken breasts.
- Place an egg in a bowl large enough to dip the chicken.
- Dip the chicken in the egg and then the breadcrumbs mixture.
- Spray the air fryer basket with cooking oil spray.
- Place in the breaded chicken breasts in the air fryer.
- Air fry.
Air Fryer Temperature
I recommend 370 degrees.
Cook Time/How Long to Cook
Cook for 12-15 minutes or until the chicken has crisped and reached a minimum internal temperature of 165 degrees. Use a meat thermometer. I don’t flip the chicken, but you can if you wish around 10 minutes.
Do You Have to Flip the Chicken?
It depends on the air fryer you use. Some models will cook both the top and bottom at an even pace. If your air fryer has a heating element at the top, you should consider flipping.
How to Store Leftovers
Leftovers can be stored tightly sealed in the fridge for 3-4 days.
How to Reheat the Chicken
The best way to reheat the chicken is in the air fryer on 350 degrees until warm.
Freezer Tips
You can freeze the chicken tightly sealed and covered for up to 3 months.
