What Type of Pork/Cut of Meat to Use
You can use a pork tenderloin, pork shoulder, or pork butt. Bone-in or boneless, for the shoulder, will work just fine. I prefer to use a pork tenderloin. They are easy to find and are typically less than 2 pounds, which is what I like for the recipe.
What Kind of Sliders Bun to Use
You can use any small, slider buns you like. I love to use Hawaiian sweet rolls because the combination of flavors with the pork and BBQ is so good.
Homemade BBQ Seasoning and Rub
I love to use my Homemade BBQ Seasoning and Rub in this recipe. You will need:
- Brown Sweetener or Brown Sugar
- Chili Powder
- Garlic Powder
- Onion Powder
- Smoked Paprika
- Salt
- Pepper
How to Make Hawaiian Pulled Pork Sliders
Detailed measurements and full instructions can be found in the recipe card at the bottom of this post.
- Rub spices into the pork tenderloin.
- Pour chicken broth into the Crockpot.
- Place the tenderloin over the broth.
- Cook.
- Open the pot and shred the meat using 2 forks.
- Pour in the BBQ sauce and stir.
- Serve the pulled pork on rolls or buns.
What Kind of BBQ Sauce to Use
Use your favorite BBQ sauce. I love to use a local favorite, Gates BBQ Sauce. If I’m looking for a sauce without added sugar, I use Primal Kitchen.
How to Substitute Pork
You can make pulled chicken sandwiches if you wish, using any boneless cut of chicken, such as breasts. The cook time will remain the same.
Coleslaw
I almost always have coleslaw with pulled pork. You can make my Creamy Southern Coleslaw recipe or simply grab a bag of pre-mixed coleslaw and serve it dry on the sliders. It still tastes great!
How to Store Leftovers
Keep the buns separate from the pulled pork. Store leftover pork in tightly sealed containers in the fridge for 3-4 days.
Freezer Tips
Freeze in airtight containers or bags for up to 3 months.

I have a Crockpot Express. Should put it on high for 4 hours with or without pressure?
thanks, Julia

Flavor turned out great with the spice combo! Next time I will get a tenderloin instead of the pork shoulder I used today.

If I double the recipe, do I cook it for about the same amount of time?
