The Best 15 Recipes and Meals Using Rotisserie Chicken includes quick and easy dishes that are perfect for lunch, dinner, and meal prep. Looking for healthy ideas of what to do with leftover chicken? You are in the right place.
Whole store bought chickens from Costco and other supermarkets….what can you use them for? A lot of times, I can break down the chicken and remove all of the meat and it along with vegetable side dishes.
But, over time this can get boring! If you need to switch it up, check out the delicious recipes below.
How much does it cost?
The chicken from Costco is $4.99, so $5 bucks is a great price. It’s about 3 pounds and the price per pound is $1.67.
What are the ingredients in a Costco rotisserie chicken? Is it good for you?
The chicken is gluten-free and has no hormones, steroids, or preservatives.
The ingredients listed on the label of a Costco rotisserie chicken are whole chicken, water and seasonings (salt, sodium phosphate, modified food starch, potato dextrin, carrageenan, sugar, dextrose, spice extractives).
The ingredients are generally considered safe. The sodium phosphate is used to keep the meat moist and to prevent spoilage, and the carrageenan, which is derived from red seaweed, also helps prevent spoilage. You can read more about Costco Rotisserie Chicken Secrets here.
Nutrition and calories
3 ounces of chicken has 140 calories and .5 grams of carbs.
How many cups of meat can you get from a rotisserie chicken? Usually about 4 cups.
Is the Chicken Fully Cooked?
Yes, the chicken is already cooked.
How Long Will the Chicken Last in the Fridge?
It will last covered in the refrigerator for 3-4 days. For best results break down the chicken and remove the meat from the bones. Store the chicken in sealable plastic bags or glass containers.
How to Reheat the Chicken
To reheat it in the oven, preheat the oven to 350 degrees and heat for 15-20 minutes until warm.
To reheat using a microwave 2-4 minutes will work.
I love to use the air fryer. I reheat 3-4 minutes on 350 degrees.
How to Freeze and Freezer Tips
Remove all of the chicken from the bones (save the bones to make bone broth, recipe below). Place the chicken in airtight containers or resealable bags. It will remain freezer-friendly for several months.
As I mentioned, save the leftover rotisserie carcass. A $5 chicken is a great way to get nutritious bone broth out of the deal, too!
